Hello parents,

At the beginning of the year, this is not how I had anticipated the last week of school, but here we are.
With summer starting soon, I wanted to offer suggestions of everyday activities that can help improve speech and language skills!  I'm sure you all are already providing excellent models without even realizing it.

Include language and explanations with everyday tasks.  Children learn best when language, grammar and sounds are modeled for them.  If you notice an error (sound error/grammar error/missing words), model the word/sentence the correct way.

This summer, to keep things fun, find a new recipe to make with your child, play memory games such as Simon Says or memory with cards.  Ask your child to sequence the events to tell you how to make a sandwich, how to wash your hands, or how to plant flowers.  When in the car or going for walks, talk about what you see outside, ask them questions based on what they see, or engage in conversation to increase their conversational skills!

Have a great last week of school!
