PWCS Summer Reading
Summer is a great time for students to read for pleasure and dive deep into their favorite genre or experience something new. Providing students with choice in what they read increases their reading motivation and engagement. Grade level suggested reading lists are included on the website. You are free to capture your child’s reading log by recording the title, author, and date read. This is a voluntary program. Students who participate complete a minimum number of readings: Grades K–2, read 5 books Grades 3–5, read 3 books Grades 6–12, read 2 books Students who complete the log, will be invited to have lunch in the library when school resumes!
Prince William County Libraries
Where will this year’s Summer Reading program take you? A faraway magical land, where dragons fly and unicorns roam the forests? A trip across the ocean, singing with the whales and dancing with the dolphins? Wherever you go, the Prince William Public Library System invites you to “Imagine Your Story” this summer. To participate, register online or through the Beanstack Tracker app on your smartphone. Track your progress digitally by checking off activities on the app. For our littlest friends, feel free to make up activities that are age appropriate.
Scholastic Summer Reading
Scholastic has a summer reading challenge in which kids go online to record the minutes they’ve read during the summer. This year, kids can build an avatar, make new friends, earn virtual rewards, and help unlock donations for kids with limited or no access to books. All you need to do is sign up and keep a “reading streak” in Scholastic Home Base over the summer!
